Closed life-cycle aquaculture of sea lettuce (Ulva fenestrata): performance and biochemical profile differ in early developmental stages

چکیده

Sea lettuce ( Ulva ) aquaculture has increased the last decade due to high productivity, wide environmental tolerance, and interesting functional nutritional properties of crop. Research focus mainly been on adult biomass production, but knowledge performance biochemical content early developmental stages – which are basis any large-scale production - is still limited. The life-history alternates between a diploid sporophytic life-stage haplontic gametophytic life-stage. Whereas sporophyte give raise recombinant gametophytes through zoids, can parthenogenetically developing, clonal gametes in absence mating partner. This study shows that have faster ontogenetic development, higher growth rate, as well protein, fatty acid, pigment contents compared crop fenestrata . Nutrient addition required for normal temperature swarmer density relatively small effects hatchery success, relative rate profile juvenile biomass. Our reveals selection life-history-phase novel sea strains could largely contribute emerging seaweed sector.

Comparative anatomy and histology of developmental and parasitic stages in the life cycle of the lined sea anemone Edwardsiella lineata.

The evolution of parasitism is often accompanied by profound changes to the developmental program. However, relatively few studies have directly examined the developmental evolution of parasitic species from free-living ancestors. The lined sea anemone Edwardsiella lineata is a relatively recently evolved parasite for which closely related free-living outgroups are known, including the starlet ...

Determination of developmental stages of embryo in the Sea Urchin, Echinometra mathaei

Sea Urchin is one of the most useful tools in developmental biology studies because this organism has the simplest kind of developmental stages. We aimed to determine developmental stages and timetable of Echinometra mathaei embryo (the species of Persian Gulf). The spawning of E. mathaei was induced by 0.5M KCl injection (1ml) into the coelomic cavity. After fertilization, embryos were placed ...

Patchiness and spatial structure of the early developmental stages of clupeiforms in the NW Mediterranean sea

We analyse the spatial structure of early developmental stages of three ecologically important small pelagic schooling species in the northwestern Mediterranean sea: the anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus, the round sardinella Sardinella aurita, and the sardine Sardina pilchardus. We used data on egg and larval abundance (arranged by development stage), hydrographic data and potential prey biomass ...

Antigens in Eggs and Developmental Stages of the Sea Urchin

A number of antigens in unfertilized eggs and embryos of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus were characterized with respect to both immunological and physicochemical properties. Experiments involved single diffusion in agar (Oudin technique) combined with mutual dilution, serial dilution, and heating of antigenic extracts, as well as immunoelectrophoresis with normal and heated extracts and a...
